Australia Part Two: Sydney and the Blue Mountains

Sydney was incredible, on Monday we decided that we would get on the train and go up to Circular Quay to have breakfast at The Rocks.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and we found a wee cafe called ‘The Rocks Cafe’ which we sat outside, in view of the Harbour Bridge, it was stunning! Talk about dream breakfast spot!

After breakfast I think we just went shopping for while, had some more Dare Caramel Latte’s (omg i miss them so much :( it hurts) then after having a much needed nap at our hotel, we put on tidy clothes and caught the train to Newtown. Now I like to think that the only two reason’s we went to Sydney was:

1. Cronulla Sharks Game (obviously)

2. Wishbone Fried Chicken Created by Mighty Car Mods (look them up on Youtube if you don’t know…) it was the coolest restaurant i’d been too!

The tables were made from wishbone suspensions, the walls were covered in Anime posters, with stickers over the slushy maker, and a Mighty Car Mods flag hung above the bar, it felt more like we were having a feed in someones super cool garage. Not to mention the food…oh wow the fried chicken is possibly one of the best, if not THE BEST food I have ever eaten in my life, and believe me when I say I have on more than one occasion, definitely thought about buying a ticket to Sydney just to go eat there again. 10/10!

The rest of our time in Sydney was a mixture of eating, shopping and sight seeing. We walked round the free parts of the Opera House, and The Rocks a bit more, went shopping at Westfields and ate dumplings, Nandos and lots of Smith’s chips! On September 4th, we got up early and went and got our trusty wee rental car, which would take us inland, first to Mount Druitt for some hot chips, which were one of the only things Ash remembers from living in Sydney! After lunch we drove out of Sydney and headed for the Blue Mountains. The Blue Mountains are home to the Gundungarra people, now represented by the Gundungurra Tribal Council Aboriginal Corporation based in Katoomba, and, in the lower Blue Mountains, by the Darug people now represented by the Darug Tribal Aboriginal Corporation. I knew they would be stunning, but my photos and words simply don’t give them justice. They are incredible, if your ever in NSW, you definitely need to check them out.

We got a pass to go on all the attractions at Scenic World, which included a Skyway (basically a cable car above the valley floor), the worlds' steepest railway and the cablecar. I thought the Skyway would be the scariest, but I was so terrified of the railway, I had to close my eyes, it was worse than any rollercoaster I’ve been on! I think its at 56 degree angle or something? not fun.
